Day 5- Settling in

After a few long days sleeping in was a must. Our beds are not top of the line, but it didn’t matter we slept like babies. When we woke up I decided that it was time I start running, if I didn’t start now, I would never get into the swing of things. For those of you who think in crazy to run while I am here I have good reasoning. My brother, Curtis, and I are doing a half marathon together in September. If I don’t start training now, Ill never finish it. When I walked out our front door the circle was full of flower vendors. I stopped in my tracks, it was so cool to see all of the people, as I ran I expected the crowds to get thinner, but they didn’t, it felt like I was in New York City, there were people EVERYWHERE. Performers, vendors, shoppers, tourists. I got back to my run, did some ab exercises with Jill and showered quick so we could get out and see everything. By they time we went back out side, the flowers were put away. We were disappointed but there were still tons of people.
We decided to walk to where our classes would be so that we would know where to go, that too is just down the street.
The Circle from our apartment door
On our walk we saw tons of touristy people taking pictures of the building that we live next too, we decided that it is a very important building because there were at least 7 wedding parties there within a half hour, and most likely many more when we weren’t looking. Later we learned that when you get married to have to go to the Hotel de Ville to do something with the mayor that certifies your marriage, I think.
Our school is right next to the Aix Cathedral. It was a huge church with all of its original structure. I wished that my Uncle Father was here to tell me about all of the history, Im sure he would know more about the famous priests that were there. We will take very detailed pictures for him to explain.
After walking around, cooking our meals, and dancing in the apartment, again, we made margaritas and blogged a little. We played games like the one where you put a name on your forehead and have to guess who you are. We know its time to go out when the streets get loud, which is around 10 30 or 11. We went to an underground jazz club. The jazz part sounds lame, but its not, they have a live band in one area and a D.J. in another area, it feels like you are in a cave with the tunnels between each area, very cool. The music is good here, half of the time they play American music, which is so weird because every one knows all of the words! We meet people from our class on Sunday, so we are hopeful that we can find some good friends to go out with and enjoy our time in Aix with. Im nervous but excited. Wish us luck!
